Description

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter: Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking, swirling often, until the milk solids toast and turn dark brown, about 5-8 minutes. Immediately pour into a heatproof bowl to cool slightly.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the slightly cooled brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until just combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Cover the dough and chill for at least 2 hours, or up to 72 hours, for best texture.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Scoop large balls of dough (about 3 tablespoons each) onto the prepared sheets, leaving space between them.
  9. Bake for 10-13 minutes. The edges should look set, but the centers should still look slightly underbaked and soft.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
