Ingredients
- Pork shoulder (Boston butt), 3-4 lbs
- BBQ rub, 1/4 cup
- Apple cider vinegar, 1 cup
- Chicken broth, 1 cup
- Your favorite BBQ sauce, 1 cup
- Small slider buns, 12 count
- Butter, melted, 2 tablespoons
- Optional toppings (coleslaw, pickles)
Instructions
- Season the pork shoulder generously with the BBQ rub.
- Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker.
- Pour the apple cider vinegar and chicken broth over the pork.
- Cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is very tender.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Discard any large pieces of fat.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker. Stir in the BBQ sauce until the meat is well coated. Keep warm.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Slice the slider buns in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves on a baking sheet.
- Spoon the sauced pulled pork evenly over the bottom buns.
- Place the top buns over the pork. Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the buns are lightly toasted and the filling is hot.
- If using, add toppings before serving immediately.
Notes
- You can prepare the pulled pork a day ahead and reheat it before assembling the sliders.
- For extra flavor, add a sliced onion to the slow cooker while cooking the pork.
- Use a good quality, thick BBQ sauce for the best results.
