  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray


Instructions

  1. Place the mozzarella stick halves in the freezer for at least 1 hour. This helps them hold their shape during cooking.
  2. Set up three shallow dishes. In the first, place the flour. In the second, add the beaten eggs. In the third, combine the panko breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Working with one mozzarella stick at a time, coat it evenly in flour, then dip it in the beaten eggs, and finally press it into the panko mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
  4. Place the coated mozzarella sticks in a single layer on a plate or baking sheet.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
  6. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  7. Arrange the mozzarella sticks in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch. You may need to cook in batches.
  8. Air fry for 6 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite marinara sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can double-coat the mozzarella sticks: coat in flour, dip in egg, coat in panko, dip in egg again, and coat in panko one more time.
