Description

Make crispy, juicy chicken tenders in your air fryer and coat them in a simple, sweet and spicy hot honey glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch strips
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Dredge the chicken: Dip each chicken strip first into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge thoroughly in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (195°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  4. Arrange the coated tenders in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap. Work in batches if necessary. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
  5. Air fry for 10 minutes. Flip the tenders and spray the other side lightly. Continue to air fry for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the coating is golden brown and crisp.
  6. While the chicken cooks, make the hot honey sauce: In a small saucepan, combine the honey, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Heat over low heat until just warm and fully mixed. Do not boil.
  7. Transfer the cooked, crispy tenders to a large bowl. Pour the warm hot honey sauce over the tenders and toss gently until they are evenly coated.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the floured tenders with oil before placing them in the air fryer.
  • If you prefer a thicker glaze, simmer the sauce mixture for 2 minutes until it slightly reduces.
  • You can substitute chicken breast strips with pre-cut chicken tenders.
