Description
Make crispy, juicy chicken tenders in your air fryer and coat them in a simple, sweet and spicy hot honey glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch strips
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- Cooking spray
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Dredge the chicken: Dip each chicken strip first into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge thoroughly in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (195°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange the coated tenders in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap. Work in batches if necessary. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 10 minutes. Flip the tenders and spray the other side lightly. Continue to air fry for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the coating is golden brown and crisp.
- While the chicken cooks, make the hot honey sauce: In a small saucepan, combine the honey, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Heat over low heat until just warm and fully mixed. Do not boil.
- Transfer the cooked, crispy tenders to a large bowl. Pour the warm hot honey sauce over the tenders and toss gently until they are evenly coated.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the floured tenders with oil before placing them in the air fryer.
- If you prefer a thicker glaze, simmer the sauce mixture for 2 minutes until it slightly reduces.
- You can substitute chicken breast strips with pre-cut chicken tenders.
