Description

Make crispy, soft churro bites quickly using your air fryer. This recipe uses a simple dough and a classic cinnamon sugar coating for a satisfying sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for coating
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Combine water, butter, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat immediately. Add the flour all at once and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a smooth ball that pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
  5. Prepare your air fryer basket by lightly spraying it with cooking spray.
  6. Place the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip (like Wilton 1M). Pipe 1-inch pieces of dough directly into the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each piece. Work in batches if necessary.
  7. Lightly spray the piped dough pieces with cooking spray.
  8. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. While the churros cook, mix the 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  10. Remove the hot churro bites from the air fryer and immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  11. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a dipping sauce, warm up chocolate chips with a splash of milk or cream until smooth.
  • If you do not have a piping bag, you can drop spoonfuls of dough into the air fryer, but the texture will be less traditional.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for the best crispiness.
