Description
Make crispy, sweet apple chips quickly using your air fryer with this simple cinnamon sugar recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 medium apples (like Honeycrisp or Fuji)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, for preventing browning)
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples completely. Remove the core.
- Slice the apples very thinly, about 1/16 inch thick. Use a mandoline slicer for uniform thickness if you have one.
- In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
- If using, lightly brush or toss the apple slices with lemon juice.
- Lightly sprinkle both sides of the apple slices with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Do not overcoat.
- Preheat your air fryer to 300 degrees Fahrenheit (150 degrees Celsius) for 5 minutes.
- Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary; do not overlap the slices.
- Air fry for 10 to 15 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time (around 7 minutes), carefully flip the slices.
- Continue cooking until the chips are dry and crisp. Cooking time varies based on air fryer model and apple thickness.
- Remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up more as they cool.
Notes
- For best results, ensure the apple slices are very thin and dry before seasoning.
- If the chips stick to the basket, lightly spray the basket with non-stick cooking spray before adding the apples.
- If the chips are not fully crisp after cooling, return them to the air fryer for 2-3 more minutes at 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
