Ingredients
Scale
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz each)
- 1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
- Cut chicken breasts in half horizontally to create thinner cutlets.
- In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- In another shallow dish, whisk the egg with water.
- Dip each chicken cutlet first in the egg mixture, then coat evenly with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil. Place the coated chicken cutlets in a single layer.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove chicken from the air fryer. Spoon marinara sauce over each cutlet and top with mozzarella cheese.
- Return the chicken to the air fryer for another 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispy chicken, ensure the breadcrumbs coat the cutlets thoroughly.
- Feel free to use your favorite marinara sauce.
- Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of your chicken cutlets and your air fryer model.
