Description

Enjoy a quick and flavorful Korean-inspired meal with these 15-Minute Korean Beef Bowls. This recipe features tender ground beef coated in a sweet and savory sauce, served over fluffy rice for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Optional toppings: chopped green onions, sesame seeds, a fried egg

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour the prepared sauce over the ground beef. Stir well to coat and cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Serve the Korean beef mixture over cooked rice.
  6. Garnish with your favorite toppings, such as green onions, sesame seeds, or a fried egg, if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, increase the red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • If you don’t have rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar can be used as a substitute.
