- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- In a shallow dish, combine the 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the coating.
- Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pot.
- Fry for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove donut holes with a slotted spoon and immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Place on a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
