Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • Vegetable oil for frying


Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. In a shallow dish, combine the 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the coating.
  5. Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pot.
  7. Fry for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove donut holes with a slotted spoon and immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  9. Place on a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
