Description
Assemble this fresh, no-cook Caprese salad quickly using cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil. It is ready in 15 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), drained and halved or quartered
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions
- Prepare the tomatoes by halving them and place them in a medium bowl.
- Add the mozzarella pieces to the bowl with the tomatoes.
- Tear the basil leaves roughly and add them to the bowl.
- In a small separate bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper to make the dressing.
- Pour the dressing over the tomato, mozzarella, and basil mixture.
- Gently toss all ingredients together until lightly coated.
- Arrange the salad on a serving platter.
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze, if using, just before serving.
Notes
- Use small mozzarella balls (pearls or ciliegine) for faster assembly.
- If you do not have balsamic glaze, you can reduce the balsamic vinegar slightly and use it as the main dressing component.
- For a cleaner presentation, you can thread the tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil onto small skewers instead of tossing them in a bowl.
