Ingredients

- 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (whole wheat or gluten-free)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 large egg, beaten (or flax egg for vegan option)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Olive oil for cooking
- Burger buns and toppings of choice (lettuce, tomato, avocado, etc.)
Instructions
- Prepare the chickpeas by draining, rinsing, and mashing them in a bowl.
- Mix the breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, spices, and beaten egg into the mashed chickpeas.
- Form the mixture into patties.
- Cook the patties in a skillet with olive oil over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side.
- Assemble the burger with your choice of toppings.
Notes
- Use a non-stick skillet to prevent sticking.
- Adjust the mixture’s consistency with more breadcrumbs or water as needed.
- Let the patties rest after cooking for better handling.
