Description

The Fig and Almond Breakfast Galette is a delightful pastry that combines the sweetness of fresh figs with the nutty flavor of almond flour. This rustic tart is easy to make and perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

  • Fresh figs – 8-10, sliced
  • Almond flour – 1/2 cup
  • Granulated sugar – 1/4 cup
  • Vanilla extract – 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt – 1/4 tsp
  • Pie crust – 1 (store-bought or homemade)
  • Egg – 1, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sliced almonds – optional, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the fig filling by mixing sliced figs, almond flour, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Roll out the pie crust into a rough circle about 12 inches in diameter.
  4. Spoon the fig mixture into the center of the rolled-out crust, leaving a 2-inch border.
  5. Fold the edges of the crust over the filling, pleating as you go.
  6. Brush the edges with a beaten egg and sprinkle with sliced almonds if desired.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the figs are bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free pie crust.
  • Chill the assembled galette for 15 minutes before baking for a flakier crust.
  • Store leftovers wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
